Honey health warning labels may include information about botulism, interactions with medications, and glyphosate residue.

Botulism

Infant warning

Honey labels should warn that honey should not be given to infants under one year of age. This is because some honey contains spores from bacteria that can cause botulism, which can be fatal to infants.

Botulism notice

The National Honey Packers & Dealers Assoc. recommends that all bottled honey include a botulism notice. 

Interactions with medications 

Anticoagulants

Honey can interact with medications that slow blood clotting, increasing the risk of bleeding and bruising.

Phenytoin

Honey can increase the amount of phenytoin absorbed by the body, which can increase the effects and side effects of phenytoin.
